Contest Won by Students at SWAU, LSU, and WWC Winning first place prize of $300 in the Gordon & Elaine Thompson Contest was Southwestern Adventist University student Whitney Harrison. Winners were drawn from a hat by La Sierra University president Lawrence T. Geraty.
Second prize of $200 went to La Sierra University student Irma Fairweather. Third prize of $100 and the bonus prize of $200 went to Talea Anderson of Walla Walla College. Bonus prize depended on a person sharing their CD and gathering other responses. The contest was presented by the La Sierra University Women’s Resource Center (WRC). Potential contestants were given a free CD by Madelynn Jones Haldeman and Ginger Hanks-Harwood, “What Paul Really Said about Women.” Entry into the drawing required submitting a response to the CD. The contest was designed and sponsored by WRC Board member Evaline West. Gordon and Elaine Thompson are WRC board members who originally encouraged reaching out to young people in positive ways.
