Ouma will speak at university worship on April 6, at 11 a.m., in the La Sierra University Church. With her B.A. in elementary education and an M.A. in sociology from Spicer College in India, Alice teaches at the Kisumu Junior Academy.

| Alice Ouma was named one of the Woman of the Year for 2006 by the Association of Adventist Women (AAW) . Here she is seen with Verla Kwiram, AAW president. |
The project she and James run for orphans is called Nyalwodep—Nyalgunga (the town where Oumas live), Widows and Orphans Development and Education Project. In the village, some 48 widows learn self-sufficiency and receive medical care. This provision for widows runs counter to local customs. The cultural often mandates unwanted and difficult marriages for widows. In addition to the Nyalwodep widows, the Oumas have had many widows and orphans live temporarily with their own family. Ouma is married and is the mother of four children
